Begining of DeepCox
Flynnwell J. Zhang, PhD
Founder & CEO
DeepCox was founded in early 2016 by Dr. Zhang, during his PhD at the Université de Sherbrooke and his research in AI and medical informatics with CHUS. His work at the intersection of deep learning and Cox modeling for survival analysis laid the foundation for DeepCox, initially focused on advancing AI for healthcare and health data.

As DeepCox evolved beyond Health Intelligence, Aveline provided the perspective to see beyond the immediate path, helping shape its direction and guiding its continued scientific exploration.
Development of DeepCox
Kunpeng Xu, PhD
Co-founder & Scientific Director
A new chapter began when Dr. Kunpeng Xu joined DeepCox as Co-founder in 2025. With research experience at McGill University and Mila in machine learning, along with extensive work in financial machine learning, Dr. Xu brought complementary expertise in mathematical modeling, representation learning, and trustworthy AI. His contributions helped broaden DeepCox's research vision from Health Intelligence toward a broader mission encompassing both Health Intelligence and Wealth Intelligence.
